First post in 2022
The first Diamond Whiskey Blog post of 2022 has arrived, and the long wait for the beginning of this season has come to an end. We are going to North America for this significant moment. More particularly, to Kentucky, the birthplace of Bourbon, where the landscape is gorgeous and overflowing with cornfields. American Bourbon began in that state in the late 1700s, and today Bourbon is the world’s second-highest exported whisky.
Four Roses Single Barrel
My first Kentuckian is Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon, and with Valentine’s Day approaching, this whiskey is a perfect fit for my blog. This Bourbon is well-known for its sweetness, so we’ll see how it performs.
Color & nose
The color here appears like Mahogany to me, and what a lovely color it is. It reminds me of melted sugar drizzled over chocolate. Magical color for the roses, and now let us get our noses closer to the glass and allow the whiskey scents to wash over us. The magic continues because the aromas from the glass suddenly whisked me to a floral shop where there are thousands of roses all around me and plates full of newly prepared caramel buns in front of the table. The nose is sweet and floral, yet a little bit bitey because it doesn’t want to be smelled too closely. Keep your nose at a safe distance since this glass contains a fireball. I added some water to my roses (5 drops of water) at the second fill, and the beautiful aromas vanished. So, avoid doing so.

The palate
The palate is smooth, but the body isn’t as impressive as I had hoped. Even so, it glides down your throat like warm caramel. But don’t keep the whiskey in your mouth for too long because it can soon burn your tongue, and remember, it’s 50% alcohol. I can still detect a touch of vanilla and spice behind the fire. I expected spicy pepper, but it tasted more like the 5 pepper seasoning that you use on steaks or salads.

The aftertaste
The finish begins with sweet aromas, this time with maple syrup, and then changes to a fresh oak bark that lingers in your mouth for a few minutes. However, a few drops of water brought out an unwanted ethanol taste, so don’t add any water to your roses in general.
Chorizo, salami & cheddar
I grabbed some fantastic Italian chorizo and salami for our tasting, as well as some great English Cheddar. I felt like making a snack plate for a quick but tasty movie night with my bourbon. The least preferred pairing was salami and roses, which didn’t do anything for the whiskey.

It was a typical snack that is appropriate for someone who does not want their food to overpower their whiskey taste. The second one is chorizo since it added a nice aftertaste to my whiskey, which I really praised. The finest one is cheddar since it was an excellent addition to the bourbon in every way.
Second year
The first tasting is concluded, and I feel relaxed and happy as I leave, having been educated by the Kentucky style bourbon. It was a fantastic start to my second year of blogging. I hope you learned something from my thoughts and had a good evening as I did. This month, I’ll be posting one more review, so keep a watch on my social media platforms (links down below). Thank you, Four Roses, and we’ll see you soon! Bye!
